So, now that school has started, we are all a lot busier and life is a lot more stressful. Juggling schoolwork and sports is enough on its own. But of course, no matter how much we try to avoid it, there is going to be drama. So here are a few tips on how to make the most of your school year(:
1. Get a planner. One that has individual days on it or a weekly overview so that everyday you can write down your homework in each class. Also, it should have a monthly overview as well, so that you can write down any team dinners, meets, tests, big assignments, projects, or other plans that are occurring throughout the month! This will help you stay organized and you'll never forget what you have going on or over-schedule yourself.
2. GET ENOUGH SLEEP. I know that it's hard, considering how we are all up super late doing assignments. But when you can, go to bed early. You need sleep. Otherwise, you will be less focused and more grumpy the next day. Record or DVR your favorite tv shows and save them for the weekends or whenever you have free time. You'll feel a lot better with a good night's rest. It helps with acne, muscle development, and stress level too.
3. Get ahead. Whenever you have the opportunity, do assignments early. If you have extra time, just get them over with! You never know how much work you might have the next day in addition to that project. Don't wait until the last minute.
4. Try not to get involved in drama. I know, easier said than done. If you get angry, don't go talk about people behind their back, and don't make a snide remark that you know you'll regret later. Just let it go. Kill 'em with kindness! If you need to release anger, exercise, write a song, play an instrument, scream into a pillow if you have to! Personally, I run. It's like my quality time with myself. You don't even realize that you're running. Just let your mind wander and go.
5. Take care of your body. Drink lots of water. In sports, if you get injured, you could be out for the whole season, or maybe even your entire athletic career. I'm notorious for getting hurt, toughing through the pain, not letting my body heal correctly, and then re-injuring myself. Thanks to that, I have now torn my meniscus twice, torn my hamstring, I have patella-femoral syndrome, and sprained my sacroiliac joint (a part of my hip). You could say I get to see my physical therapist a lot. Anyway, just make sure that if you're hurt, you take it easy. Let your body heal, and then get back to the sport you love (:
6. Boys. OKAY. Now this gets interesting. The first thing you need to remember is NOT to search for a boyfriend. That will only lead to disappointment and frustration. Next, just be yourself! Guys like girls who are real, not fake. Also, you want to attract a good guy. Not a guy who will use you for sex or notoriety. Make sure you take it slow with a guy. Relationships that start fast end fast.
Okay, I hope you enjoyed this article. See y'all later (:
