Hey everybody(:
Okay, so now that school is starting, we all are much more tired. If you're like me, you will keep hitting that snooze button on your alarm clock until the last possible second. What does that mean? We rush out the door without eating a proper breakfast, if we eat anything at all! But, did you know, that students who eat breakfast daily are shown to achieve higher grades? Or that you are less likely to develop Type 2 Diabetes or have heart failure? Also, people who skip breakfast are more likely to crave carbohydrates throughout the day, and also have higher cholesterol, elevated insulin levels, and larger waist circumferences. So how do we get a quick, healthy breakfast without making a daily appearance at the drive-thru of a fast food restaurant? Here's a few ideas!
1) Banana Split
Split a banana in half, add some vanilla Greek yogurt, blueberries, strawberries, and some granola. You have a healthy, fruity breakfast sure to get you through the day!
2) Pretzels with cream cheese
Take a small, to-go pack of cream cheese (check any grocery store for these) and a small Ziploc bag of pretzel sticks, and you're out the door!
3) Bagel
It's pretty self-explanatory
4) Peanut Butter and Apples
Slice up an apple and grab a small cup of Jif PB, and go! I know that Wal-Mart even sells little packages of pre-sliced apples and peanut butter!
5) Protein/Nutrition/Luna Bar
These are super duper easy. Literally just grab a bar out of the box, and you have to nutrition to start your day.
